PostHeaderIcon Floyd Mayweather KOs Victor Ortiz: Amir Khan Speaks Truth About the Knockout

IBF light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO) spoke about the controversial ending to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz bout that took place earlier this evening.

After intentionally headbutting Mayweather and having a point deducted, Ortiz embraced Mayweather to touch gloves and hug before Mayweather threw two knockout blows that put him on the canvas. Referee Joe Cortez immediately started the count despite not restarting the fight, and Mayweather was awarded the KO victory.

"Instinctively after being deliberately fouled, a fighter wants to get back at the guy who did it, that's why this happened." Amir Khan

There is no other way to put it than that. Mayweather knew that it would be called a "cheap shot," but he figured the headbutt was as good as the one he was about to give him in the form of his fists.

"I got hit with a dirty shot, and it's protect yourself at all times," said Mayweather during the post-fight interview. "I hit him with left hook, right hand, and it ended the bout."

It is the 42nd career victory on Mayweather's record. He wins the WBC welterweight title and gets the 26th KO victory of his career.

"It's protect yourself at all times," Mayweather continued. "He did something dirty. If he want a rematch, we can get a rematch."

"I was called to break by the referee so I did as I obeyed," said Ortiz. "I looked up and boom, I was out.

"I'm sorry for that," Ortiz continued. "It happens. I'm not perfect."

Khan is currently scheduled to face Lamont Peterson on December 10.
