PostHeaderIcon Darchinyan eyes possible rematch vs Donaire

MANILA, Philippines – The camp of Vic Darchinyan is again looking for a possible rematch against Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr.

“We’d love to fight Donaire, obviously,” Gary Shaw, Darchinyan’s promoter, said in Boxingscene.com.

The Australia-based Amernian reportedly wants to avenge his loss to the Filipino-American champion.

In 2007, Darchinyan suffered a humiliating 5th-round stoppage in the hands of then up-and-coming Donaire.

If Darchinyan can’t secure a rematch versus the Filipino Flash, he might fight Abner Mares or leave the bantamweight class.

“If we can’t get Donaire, we would like to get a rematch with Abner Mares. If not, we’ll move on to 122,” said Shaw.

The camps of Darchinyan and Donaire have met in the past to arrange the rematch.

However, talks broke down after Darchinyan reportedly bailed himself out of the negotiations.

Donaire is already scheduled for an October fight against unbeaten Argentine Omar Narvaez.
