Chris Tiu explains decision to not join the PBA draft

Chris Tiu, the charismatic captain of the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team, decided to forego his application to the 2011 PBA Rookie Draft. Among all members of the Philippine team eligible to be drafted, Tiu was the only one who didn’t turn in an application.
In a short statement, Tiu explained his decision to pass on the
draft, as he remained hopeful that he can continue to be part of
SMART-Gilas.
His statement follows.
After much prayer and consultation with family and friends, I have decided not to take part in the PBA draft this year. My dream has always been to represent our flag and country by competing in the various international tournaments.
Should management wish to invite me, it would be my privilege to continue on with the Gilas national team program. Thank you for the support!source: Markku Seguerra-InterAKTV
